Last weekend was one big concert! On
Sunday alone, i managed to take in some of the
Charlie Parker Jazz
Festival, Blues & BBQ on the
Hudson at
Hudson River Park,
then finished up with Patti Smith at
Lincoln Center Out of Doors'
Roots of American Music Festival.
I even met folks who had taken in the
Yo La Tengo show at
McCarren Parks's
JellyNYC Pool
Parties. What
a great day!
Alas, all good things come
to an end, and this summer's Free Music is just
about over. The
River to River Festival
(which includes
South Street Seaport,
World Financial Center,
Battery Park, Battery Park City and Castle Clinton)
will still have a range
of events coming up over the next two weeks - check out their
website
for details. This
includes the Latin Giants of Jazz on September
3rd, and the 7th Annual Family Music Festival on
September 14th, featuring Tom Chapin and many
more.
The
Lincoln Square
Business Improvement District
will present Music Under New York at Richard
Tucker Park for the next two Wednesdays at noon,
ending on September 3rd. Don't forget, there is still time to relive the
Sixties by seeing
Shakespeare in the Park's
presentation of Hair,
which runs through September 7th!
If you like BIG EVENTS, here is one for you:
The NFL will usher in the 2008 with a
free concert featuring Usher and Keith
Urban. This will take
place in Columbus Circle on Thursday, September
4th at 7 PM.
FreeConceretsNYC will be taking a breather for a
wile, but we will keep you updated on Free
Concerts as we hear about them. The
World Financial Center
can always be counted on for shows throughout
the year, and earlybirds can always take in the
7 AM shows in
Bryant Park
and the
Today Show Concert Series at Rockefeller
Plaza.
Madison Square Studio
continues on Saturday afternoons into October.
As always, we will keep you up-to-date with any
concerts that are announced. Visit us here
often, and

list to keep informed!
