SEASON PREVIEW

Our up-and-down Spring weather makes us wonder - but Summer will come before you know it!. And with summer comes FREE CONCERTS. Time to start thinking about what we have to look forward to!

Here is what we have in store for the summer of 2016:
  • Celebrate Brooklyn has now announced their schedule! Opening Night Concert - Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, on June 8th. Other highlights include Dan Zanes (June 11th), Violent Femmes (June 18th), Josh Ritter and Martha Redbone (July 8th), the Wood Brothers (July 16th) and Angelique Kidgo's Celia Cruz Tribute (July 29th).
  • Central Park Summerstage has already announced some of their busy schedule of music, dance, comedy and more, including the McCoy Tyner Quartet on June 4th, and the Blue Note Jazz Festival with Kamasi Washington on June 18th. The annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival on August 26th and 28th is also included in the lineup, that covers the entire city!
  • River to River has announced their schedule. The Arts at Brookfield will host a tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe on May 8th at the Winter Garden.
  • Madison Square Park has announced their summer music schedule, which gets underway on June 18th and includes Jon Cleary on July 23rd.
  • Shakespeare in the Park opens May 24th with The Taming of the Shrew, followed by Troilus and Cressida opening on July 19th.
  • Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors -Will be great, as always! Kicks off with Patti Smith on July 20th- other highlights include Darlene Love (July 23rd), M Ward on August 5th and a day-long celebration of Lou Reed on July 30th.
  • Hudson River Park will have music, movies and much more including Deer Tick on July 16th, the James Hunter Six and William Bell on August 6th, plus the great Blues BBQ on August 20th (with Dirty Dozen Brass Band headlining!).
  • BAM R & B at Metrotech in downtown Brooklyn will make Thursday lunchtimes amazing! Gets underway on June 2nd - highlights include King Sunny Ade on July 14th, Ladies Sing The Blues on July 28th (with Jazz Divas including Catherine Russell) and (speaking of Jazz Divas) DeeDee Bridgewater on August 4th.
  • The Brooklyn Concerts was NOT at Coney Island last year due to construction, but we are waiting on word about the this year, as well as Martin Luther King, Jr. shows at Wingate Field. The new Coney Island Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk is opening in July!
  • The 4 Knots Music Festival at South Street Seaport - will be on July 9th - artists not yet announced..
  • Coney Island's Mermaid Parade returns on June 18th. One of Brooklyn's biggest parties!
  • The Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival - July 12th & 13th, will include Antabalas, the Roots and Drive By Truckers.
  • Long Islanders won't be left out, with great music from Town of Hempstead , Nassau County Oyster Bay, North Hempstead, Babylon (with Marshall Tucker on July 6th, Junior Marvin and the Wailers on July 29th and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on August 6th) and the Huntington Arts Council's shows at Heckscher Park (the Chapin Family on June 27th, West Side Story on July 11th and Dan Zanes on July 14th).
  • And what else is still to come? The House of Vans and just about everything else will be back this summer!
