Summer is now officially here, and the Free
Concerts season is underway.
Some new items have been added,
including the
Seaside Summer Concert
Series at Seaview Park,
which gets underway on July 16th with
Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Mountain and
John Sebastian. Upcoming events
include Gladys Knight with the O'Jays on
July 23rd, Frankie Valli on July 30th and
Blondie with Pat Benatar on August 13th.
The
Martin Luther
King Jr. Concert Series
at Wingate Field has some great shows as
well.
Lotsa cool
stuff on
Governors
Island this
summer, in addition to
the
Folks on the
Island
concerts, which will be back on July 26th with Judy
Collins.
The Beach at
Governors Island has a
series of paid concerts, but several free
ones as well, with a sandy beach and
waterside bars. There are also art
exhibits, free tours and lectures all summer
and
City of Water
Day on July 18th!
Coming up soon:

lunchtime on Thursday July 2nd, and Rebirth
Brass Band brings Mardi Gras to Brooklyn on
July 9th as the
BAM R&B
Festival continues their
free lunchtime concerts.

SummerStage will have
African
and “Afropean” chanteuses on July

Madison Square
Park continues
their Wednesday evening series on July 1st
with the Claire Lynch Band and on July 8th
with the Duhks and Red Molly. The

Park shows are
continuing as well as
Shakespeare in
the Park with
Twelfth Night.
Midsummer Night
Swing at Lincoln Center
will get started with Kermit Ruffins on July
7th and Chubby Checker (July 8th).

dance, but you can listen for free!
And for Long
Islanders, many concert programs are
underway, including the
Town of
Hempstead

Summer Arts
Festival at Huntington's
Heckscher Park.
Looks like it will be a great summer!
